How it works

The 40 most traded crypto perpetuals on Binance are checked hourly. "Crowded" is relative to each coin's own last 30 days, so 80% long can be a crowded short for a coin that usually sits at 90%. A coin counts again on the same side only after 48 hours. The crowd is wrong when the price moves against it: lower after a crowded long, higher after a crowded short. 50% would be a coin flip. Binance keeps 30 days of long/short history; the scoreboard keeps every event since it started, so the sample grows.
